I am finally giving up on my old Liteon LVW5006B DVD Recorder. Last year, it developed faults when recording, so I just used it to play discs on, but now the loading tray fails to open, and I'm fed up with breaking fingernails trying to prise it open to play a disc.
So it'll get chucked unless anyone is prepared to pay for the cost of postage, and then they can have it for spares or repair.
I'm guessing a new writer disc drive would give it a new lease of life, but I really can't be bothered.
Send me a pm or reply on this thread for more info. I would only want the cost of postage, which I'm guessing would be in the region of a fiver or so. The remote woud be included, and is in perfect working order.

Isn't the liteon one of those that just used a standard DVD writer?
If so it'd be pretty cheap to replace the drive.
If it's the physical drive changing that stops ya then buy the bits, post it to me and I'll do it for ya.

Nah, I really can't bebothred, thanks all the same.
It's 5 years old, and it's been to and fro to the repair shop so many times, I've lost count. I don't need two DVD Recorders any more, and my other one, a JVC DR-M7, same age, has never once failed me, so continues to be used to transfer recordings from the Sky+ box to disc!
Yes, it does use a standard writer drive - it now has the Liteon DVDRW SHW 165P6S drive, which is near enough the same as this PC I'm using. As far as I'm aware, the biggest problem is that the firmware isn't compatible with drives faster than 16x, and that's a rarity these days. The original drive when I first got it was only 4x, then it was replaced with an 8x drive, then an older 16x drive, and now I have this 16x drive. They're good, aren't they! lol
So, you can have it if you want it, but I don't want it back!
