Watched the 1st episode of this and was frankly a little bit disturbed by it, had no clue what it was when i downloaded it just saw the name and thought it was probably some sci-fi series which had flown under the radar.
Anyway, anthology series, 1st one was PM being blackmailed after a member of royal family is kidnapped, wont go on as it is.....ahem.....well not exactly for the kiddies, 2nd is futuristic society where everything u do is to keep fit and gain points to spend on your online avatar or offline room, food etc, very interesting take on the fame game and episode 3 my favorite with again a really quirky take on marriage, infidelity and jealousy....I would recommend catching it during the quiet period stateside if you havent caught it already....Oh....and its British...![]()
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like you, I didn't know what to expect, and sat through the first episode wondering how the hell they had got away with that storyline! But the other 2 were very feasible and the humour was incredibly dry.
I hope we see more of the same at some point as I enjoyed this new angle on modern technology.
Couldn't get anyone I knew to start watching it. As soon as I mentioned the pig, they kind of switched off and just assumed it was rubbish, but they were so wrong!
we've watched the 1st 2 and enjoyed them both. The 2nd was interesting, as it showed Brooker as his usual cynical self for the most part, but did also show a certain old softie/romantic side he rarely lets the public see, but maybe that's cos his missus co wrote it so his feminine side could be seen ![]()
The interesting thing I thought is that I think in the achieved what he set out to do, i.e. an plausible premise, but then you could imagine all the following events happening like that.
Similarly the 2nd one, in places a bit too close to home for comfort!
The events of all 3 were perfectly plausible, which is what made us squirm, I think.
Charlie Brooker was very clever in the way he took 3 different aspects of modern technology and showed us how they could very quickly come to dominate our lives.
