Ah I didn't see that at the end.

Yeah was a setting up episode, so was good, but not spectacular.

Given I only watched it mid last year I was struggling to remember most names and which character was which, don't know how people who watched it 2 years ago coped!

I tend to know exactly who everyone is and everyone is talking about whilst watching the episode, and then the moment it is over it's like the whole thing has been packed away in a box and I struggle completely!

SPOILER:
I wonder how long before Lucy Lawless' character gets her memory back enough to become the conniving bitch we know and love. Happy

Well our thoughts were

SPOILER:
Is she already conniving and playing up the memory loss/shock hoping it's the only way they wouldn't kill her and to manipulate her way back in

SPOILER:
I thought that a bit, but kind of dismissed it, expecting if that was the case to have some hint of it.

Lucy Lawless is awesome, glad her and Doctore are back along with Ilithya. It's just a shame Batiatus couldn't return too, but that would be a bit silly considering how definitively he was killed. Happy

Flashbacks Winking

Viva Bianca, Katrina Law, Lucy Lawless, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, the various slave girls... embarrassment of riches. Pity the new Naevia isn't a patch on Lesley-Ann Brant, but there you go. Not quite convinced by the new bloke and the effects looked a bit iffy in the first episode, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Gannicus should be back at some point as well, tying all three series together nicely.

Wasn't he killed in Gods of the Arena?

Are you confusing the actress who played Naevia with the one who plays Mira? Naevia was two different actresses but only in season 1 and the Gods of the Arena prequel, I think she was killed too wasn't she?

Episode 2...

SPOILER:
I like the ending. You were right Mills Happy

Ashur being back was a surprise, and for the first time the most devious female and male in the series are working together. I fear for every other character. Happy

Gannicus was set free in Gods Of The Arena (much to Quintus' disgust).

Episode two of Vengeance was better...
SPOILER:
..the return of Ashur is a great story. I think they'll start to link him and Tiberius (the new Syrian slave from the first villa they raided) together as brothers - based simply on the seemingly throwaway comments they made.

Oh, I thought Gannicus was killed by Crixus, but maybe I'm confusing characters too. Confused

Agree about your spoiler Miles, was thinking the same.

Crixus wanted to kill him in the battle in the final show of "Gods Of The Arena"...where they were in the new stadium and surrounded by a ring of fire.
Gannicus and Crixus were the last of Batiatus's gladiators along with one from Solonius' recently inherited ludus....but IIRC Crixus gets injured and is about to be killed when Gannicus pushes him outside the ring (before Crixus can kill him). Crixus is pretty annoyed by this.
Then Gannicus wins the battle and is set free as a reward (a suggestion from Solonius).

Nah, Naevia is Crixus's woman who had her hair cut off and was sent off to be a plaything for the Romans. That's who they're looking for in Vengeance, and in the new series she's not played by the hotness that is Lesley-Ann Brandt.

In Gods of the Arena there was also Doctore's wife, Melitta, who was forced to get it on with Gannicus and was poisoned. Was that who you were thinking of? Lesley was definitely Naevia in GotA.
