Recommend me some top US TV Shows....

Is this in the wrong forum? All the other TV show threads seem to go in here, so...

Anyway, having an operation next week which will leave me down and out for a week or two at least. So I'm looking for some good US TV to watch that I haven't seen before. For example, it would be good to have a whole host of Pilot episodes (or just the first episode) of anything new that I can then go through and choose what to then go onto follow right through. If you know what I mean.

To let you know what I've got to watch so far, I have:

Family Guy (new season)
Robot Chicken (S2)
My Name Is Earl (S2)
Heroes (Pilot)
The Wire (S1)

I tried Lost, and didn't like that too much, and I've never really been able to get into Desperate Housewives. Started watching Prison Break but got halfway through and then missed a few episodes on Channel 5 so gave up on it.

Anything and everything will be put up for consideration.

Thanks guys. Grinning

Curb Your Enthusiasm has been thoroughly watch (and a fair amount of Arrested Development, although not enough of it). I'd like to give Sopranos a chance, because I know I'd love it, but its going to take me years to get through all of the series......

But definitely want to catch Entourage. Cheers, that's on the list. Grinning

"Justice" has become a regular fixture of Friday evenings in my house. Think CSI:Defence.
"Smith" - action-packed, about big-time heists. Got Ray Liotta and lady-out-of-Candyman in it.
"Ugly Betty" has some promise.

Avoid "Standoff", I lasted 3 episodes - it's goofy.

Do you get "Cold Case" and "House"?

I want to watch "Heroes", haven't got hold of it yet though.

A second vote for Entourage - I got addicted to that and now have to wait until March 2007 for the next episode! Fantastic show.

Prison Break is worth getting hold of. Now on to its second series and worth a look.

Heroes - a new one (only 2 episodes so far), but looking OK.

My Name Is Earl - you can not beat this show (now on to its second series).

Eureka - a nice humourous sci-fi show (11 episodes so far)

EDIT - Smith, definitely worth it

You got to THREE, I admire you. One was enough.

'Vanished' is quite good. You really must get back into 'Prison Break' it is the 'Tops'

Todays The Day. Tomorrow can wait...

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Only been three episodes so far but it's easily the best of the new US shows IMO. Like The West Wing, only whereas that series was set behind the scenes at the White House, this is set backstage at a faux-Saturday Night Live TV show. It's written by Aaron Sorkin as well!

Heroes is great too, and surprisingly gory to boot!

Ben,

I was the same as you regarding The Sopranos. I've seen the first four series', I think, and it is definitely worth the bother/time of watching from the beginning.

I really like Heroes so far.

Vanished is too slow and a little dull for my liking, I stopped after four episodes.

Justice gripped me from the first ep.

Smith is very good.

I personally like Standoff, even though others say they don't like it.

Kidnapped is new and it's okay, hopefully will get better.

Tried Blade but thought it was pap so stopped after the pilot show.

Jericho is pretty good so far. A small town in America where loads of nuclear bombs have been set off and they have to survive.

Angela's Eyes started okay, but then just bored me. It was a little slow for my liking.

Just got Dexter, but not seen it yet. Supposed to be a forensics guy who gets his own back by playing vigilante on the criminals that get away (or something like that).

Good to see The Unit back for season 2, special ops and domestic bliss, what a great combo!

Not tried House yet, but started Greys Anatomy and that seems pretty good too.
