Sigh, is about all I have to say on yesterday's game.
Nasri at least gave a very good performance, it'll be a shame to lose him to Man City.

Well at the risk of shameless self publicity I actually started a new blog this morning which was part therapy after yesterdays match.
It will probably be me talking to myself as I've never got the hang of accruing a following but you'll recognise the frustration.

well u havent lost him yet?? but i think this must be Wengers swansong surely, he simply cannot or will not compete, I mean I cannot believe he doesnt have the funds to buy the players he needs to improve his side so assume he doesnt want to spend that much money?? And seeing him on screen lately he looks so down when it comes to his side and once again the discipline which he must instill is sadly lacking

he simply cannot or will not competeI think he refuses to pay the silly tax, that amount of money that a player suddenly becomes worth if Man City or Chelsea are after them. Tbf Ferguson is now pretty much in that boat too.
And you could say, look at how much Andy Carroll cost Liverpool, and all that for 2 goals. Money well spent?
It would be great if Nasri signed a contract extension, but who knows if it will happen, I suspect not. He plays a lot better in midfield roaming around than pushed up on the left the whole game.
Once again Arsenal are so nearly a world class side, but still maybe two players away.
You look at last season everyone saying Wenger HAD to buy a new goalkeeper, and now I think pretty much everyone would agree he didn't need to. We now have a very solid one with the potential to easily be one of the best in the premiership.
Vermaelon is back and commandeering in defence, he wasn't expensive either, again showing that it isn't about what amount of money you spend but who you spend it on. Wenger clearly needs someone to partner him, and it does look like Everton really need the cash so maybe we'll get lucky on that front.
Another world class striker to partner Van Persie would be nice, but lets face it very few teams in the entire world have two strikers of his calibre so that's not going to happen.
And if Nasri is going to go, a non-injury prone playmaker to replace him will be needed.

All sound reasoning sir but my problem with the whole rigmarole is depth. If we could keep the first eleven fit and unknackered for the entire season we'd stand a good chance but we haven't for the last three or four years and large numbers are crocked at the moment.
If we had depth in the squad Frimpong could have been taken off at half time rather than leave him running round like an out of control fridge. He will be a bloody good player but hasn't learned to channel the aggression properly yet. Although it would be hilarious to watch him deck a Joey Barton or Ryan Shawcross they'd be smiling through the blood as he slunk off the field for an early bath.
Can you honestly tell me that what we played against Liverpool was any different to a Carling Cup side of two seasons ago.
Eventually, although Arsene won't walk away, he may be asked to consider his options. The number of empty seats was noticeable and tickets have been on general sale for the Blackburn away match for a few days now when they normally go to red level members.
Personally I hope I'm completely wrong and will cheerfully eat any amount of humble pie if I am but I think we are in for a very uncomfortable season. Let's hope it doesn't start on Wednesday.
EDIT: At the risk of blowing my entire arguement read this

Fascinating reading, though as with everything on the internet I guess we need to take it with a pinch of salt.
If that is true, then Wenger really doesn't deserve anything like the flack he takes for his purchasing policies.

Well Tim Payton (Arsenal Supporters Trust) doesn't believe it but it's an interesting angle which may have a germ of truth in it.
The fact is that there's only a handful of people that actually know what's going on and they won't be telling us anytime soon.

The problem is why doesnt he come out and be honest? I would have a lot more respect for him if he came out and said we have a set amount to spend, I wont be forced into paying over the odds and our wage structure prevents us currently from paying over 75 or 100 k per week, at least then the fans would be in the know, and have a far better idea of which players they can reasonably expect to be seeing arriving at the club in the future

Someone who takes all the flack for the good of the club, and clearly Wenger does that, should probably deserve more respect than he gets. ![]()
