The club's GBP 8.5 million a season deal with Mansion expired at the end of last season. Levy has been seeking a GBP 10 million a year deal without much success and hence this idea of multiple sponsors. The hope is that even if the club starts next season without a shirt sponsor, there will be a sponsor in place in the first two to three weeks. TV exposure around the world is expected to generate a lot of money from the shirts.

The club is considering a joint deal for the shirt sponsorship and naming rights for their new stadium due to be completed in 2012-2013. There are planning considerations, however, and so Hotspurs are exploring alternatives for raising funds. According to a spokesperson for the club, "We are working hard to deliver international partnerships for the club, improved operations and choice for the fans. Increased commercial deals will translate into investment in all areas of the club - on and off the pitch."
