You might want to take a look at Advanced System Care from IOBit, found it on my girlfriend's PC by accident and so impressed with it I not only downloaded it on mine but bought the full version even though the free one does an awful lot...

I tried that programme, it said I have a few problems & fixed them, however one of the problems is a virus protector called 'trend Micro Titanium internet security'. It will not uninstall. I have never used it & I have tried system restore but I cannot uninstall it. It says 'Load failed some more crap & error code 6'. Googling tells me others have the same problem but I still can't get it off the computer. At the moment I have no virus protector as I don't want to load another in case it gets caught up with this one if I can ever uninstall it. That is why I want to get rid of all the crap & just load windows 7.

Contacted Asus & they didn't know about the Trend Micro internet security'. Anyhow I put windows 7 back on via the partition & spent the afternoon getting most of the stuff back on to the computer. Trend was back on but this time I could uninstall it. So for now it's back to normal.

Another option to try now you have it as you want...
make a clone of the hard drive then wipe the windows partition (NOT the recovery one but I suspect you know enough not to do that)

Then install Windows from your own disc and use the Asus number, it might take or it might say "**** off, that's the wrong number for this type of disc ya nugget" (or words to that effect Winking )

If it installs then activate (if you still need to do that, I'm still on XP not 7 yet)  and if it runs fine you now have a working install from a fresh Micro****e disc using the Asus key and the Asus pre installed version waiting to reinstall anytime you want from the cloned copy.

And if it DOESN'T work, reinstall the clone to the original drive and all you've lost is a wee bit of time but are then much the wiser for it Happy
