Hi guys, ok does anybody know if this router can be set to turn the signal off and on at set times? ie, I can go to bed at 10pm i can set it to turn off at say 12am and come back on again at say 7am, just so my son isnt on the internet all night, otherwise I have to stay up to do it manually Sad

cheers guys

You may be able to set times on the router when it allows internet access.  Or, if he's on Windows7, set it in there when the PC can access the internet.
Don't know about your particular router.

Go to the router set up, into the "Security" menu area, and select "Schedule", set the schedule as you want it.Then go to "Firewall Rules" and press "Add" for a new Outbound rule.
Set the "Service" to be "Any (ALL)" and set the action to be "BLOCK by schedule, otherwise allow". Then press the "Apply" button.
That should give you what you want.

How about plugging the router through one of those timer plugs?

"complicated"? I'd have said it seems pretty straightforward.
But if you can't manage it then what Mark said will do the trick. I just don't like 'pulling the plug' on CPU based electrical stuff without shutting it down first.

Dunno, is it the times when you want the wireless off?  Why do you want the wireless off?
Doesn't your router allow you to switch wireless off and then somehow connect to it wirelessly to re-activate it? Confused

if it's anything like my old netgear 604, you can specify which IP address is
denied internet access at any given time. you have to do this through the "firewall
rules" section as miles rightly mentioned.

used to have to do it to stop my daughter being on messenger until stupid 'o' clock!!

cheers ste, think I've sussed it now, I'm going to have a tinker with it to try it out...... wasn't sure if the times you enter are the times you want it to be 'off' but it must be when I think about it Happy
