RAGE Single-Player Lasts 15 Hours, Says Willits

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/Tim-willits-RAGE-DOOM-4-single-player-FPS,news-35325.html

Quote:
RAGE may be similar to Fallout 3, offering a lengthy baseline campaign with additional quests to double the length of gameplay.
I'm guessing there will be plenty of add ons, dlc to buy over time.

The game will also supposedly be left open-ended, leaving id room to develop a sequel after DOOM 4 hits retail shelves.

Completed Doom 1 and 2 on PSone, didn't play much of Doom 3 on PC, may have to dig that out again.

oops, should have been in games, sorry, please move Happy

ID have long development times heh.

I thought Doom 1 and 2 where revolutionary, but I don't think I could ever describe any single moment of them as remotely scary. Doom 3 on the other hand I really enjoyed, if you had a PC that could run it with all the settings maxed at the time (obviously a lot easier now, and I think it still looks great) then it was an experience as much as a game.

I know a lot of people hated the fact you couldn't use a torch and hold your gun at the same time, but I didn't mind that, thought it added to the creepyness. And those horrible baby monsters, that noise they made sent actual shivers down my spine every time.

I quite enjoyed the expansion too.

Having recently played Crysis 1 through again (mainly because I'd got a new gfx card and Crysis 2 was due out) I might go back and play Doom 3 all the way through again in a month or two.

looking good. I just hope you don't have to do particulalry well in the driving sections, otherwise you can't progress in the game. That annoyed me in Starfox on the GC, there were some shoot em up and race sections which I found broke up the game.

I assume it will be more like Half Life 2 where the driving is a means to get from one location to another, which was quite nice to break up the monotony.

Oh arse, I forgot to check if they ever made it free (it's £1.49 again now). Nm.

Anyway, looking at places to buy this, Amazon have the Anarchy Edition for £25 whilst GAME have the Collector's Edition which is the same but includes a couple of comics and a making-of DVD. Trying to decide if I want to pay another fiver for those.

I wonder when specs will be confirmed. id are normally quite good, in that if you have bang up to date hardware you get all Carmack's fancy gubbins, but if you have ageing hardware you can play the game without the eye candy.

batman AA and DragonAge Origins are still keeping me busy at the mo.

You know, I'm sure this is going to be great fun, I'm a big fan of Doom 1-3 and Quake 1 (Q2 onwards, meh), but nothing in the trailers or screenshots looks even remotely wow to me.

Okay so, not bought it (due to having too much else to play, may as well wait till it comes down in price), but having just watched some footage of someone looking for Quake and Wolfenstein easter eggs, I definitely will get it at some point.

The trailers looked nothing special, but actual in game footage the lighting looks amazing, and screenshots showing detail are very impressive.

I guess we are just beyond the point where you can look at a new game and go, wow shadows! Wow look at that draw distance! Omg all those destructable trees! It's all subtleties now.

I can see why it's called Rage. Not having auto-save in missions is most annoying, especially when you play through one for 30 mins or so without remembering to hit the save key and then die.

My vid card can't keep up with this one. It really lags when rendering the scenery. Still playable, but only just about.
