I'm thinking of buying an iPhone4 and was wondering why I have to change my current tarriff with O2 as I'm currently have a unlimited web bolt-on with my current contract.
Could I just buy an iPhone and keep my current O2 tarriff and not tell O2 I'm using an iPhone? Has anyone else here done that???
Could I just buy an iPhone and keep my current O2 tarriff
the short answer is yes, as thats what i've been doing for about 4 years
just be aware that the "unlimited" web bolt on is actually only 500mb
they then charge you about £7 if you go past the 500mb limit
i've gone over the 500mb limit a few times, so be sure to check your data usage in the iphone settings, i try to remember to resett it on my statement date, but allways forget lol...

Thanks Ogster.
I've double checked with O2 and my unlimited bolt-on is unlimited! It's one of the older contracts (about 3 years).
I believe I need a micro sim (?)...where do I get one?

Just go into an O2 store and ask for one.
Then you can transfer your current number to it using their online portal (usually takes about 20 mins).
Careful Aljar, my "unlimited" bolt on from my previous contract (in the end up over 10 years old) was as Ogs has mentioned, capped, and was in actual fact only 750Mb.
Make sure you read the fine print of your contract so you can force the issue if they ever try to charge you.
That's part of the reason I went iPhone contract on mine, I got 1200 cross-network anytime minutes, unlimited texts (bolt-on free), Unlimited wi-fi (part of iphone contract) and unlimited data (bolt-on free but it's a real unlimited with no cap) on 18 months which gave me a 16Gb 3GS free and £45 per month.
When it runs out I'll be looking for a calls/text/data package of around 6 to 9 hundred mins with the others unlimited to change it to.
