Not starting a debate about sound quality, just a qestion about portability.
I've got a particular album, and all the tracks are in flac format, and while the audio is incredible (Train your Dragon soundtrack - I highly recommend it), it's a bugger to listen to anywhere except in its original format - which required a whole new directshow filter just to get the bugger to play in WMP.
Aside from converting to mp3, which negates the existence of flac in the first case, is there an easy method of getting my mp3 player to play them, and by mp3 player, I mean my HTC, which I can hook up to my Truck stereo

FLAC is great for archiving music as it's lossless but if you're thinking of playing them in a bloody truck then having them as flac is pretty pointless to be honest.
You could keep the flacs if you wanted to but you can't really beat mp3 for portability and compatibility.
Convert them to vbr mp3 - they'll sound indistinguishable but take up much less space. ![]()
Use something like foobar2000 and lame.
