The worst pop song of all time (apparently)

Friday by Rebecca Black. 15 million hits on youtube and rising.

Awful video, charismatic free singer, excessive auto-tuning, lyrics so inane a europop dance track artist would be embarrassed to sing...

From wikipedia:

Quote:
In an interview with
The Daily BeastQuote:
, Black's mother, Georgina Kelly, recalls how a classmate of Black informed her of Ark Music Factory, an LA record label that allowed young singers to gain experience in the industry by recording a track for a small fee. Kelly paid Ark Music $2,000 for a package that included a choice of two pre-written songs.

Didn't get 30 seconds in. Awful!

But hey, she paid them $2000 to let her record it. I'm in the wrong business! lol

When it got to the rap bit I thought, hey this has to be better lyrically, it was, but only just. Confused

I think the worst lyrics in the entire song (below) are so bad, it made me think the writers were really taking this poor girl for a ride.

Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today i-is Friday, Friday (Partyin’)
We-we-we so excited
We so excited
We gonna have a ball today

Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes after...wards
I don’t want this weekend to end

I have a few problems with this whole thing namely (in no particular order) -

  • the girl looks so uncomfortable and so un-natural
  • the extras look so uncomfortable and so un-natural
  • the lyrics are truly horrific
  • the rapping is better but still horrific
  • the video is entirely unoriginal
  • the video starts with her having breakfast, she gets in a mates car (presumably to go to school) and then they go to a party. What happened to school?
  • The whole video looks like it was filmed as a project by a few 12 year olds

I think that about covers things.

I've heard a lot worse by Glee and Britney Spears.

Wow, I'm not sure I prefer the metal version either heh. If I do it's only because you can't hear the awful lyrics. Winking

Depends on what you term "good" Cool
To me, that was just the vocal of Paparrazzi with some other instrumental track played behind it.
Didn't seem to match up or anything else, just one instrumental, one vocal.

Unless it changed nearer the end cos it was hurting my ears and I cancelled it after about a minute n a half.

Oh, and the other one is crap too LOL
