Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground (I didn't say Fire at risk of offending the above Winking )

Soft Cell's Tainted Love is probably the "definitive" cover song, since it's probably more famous than the original, and most ppl think it's the original. It's also damned good Happy

Some other good ones:
Shinedown - Simple Man
Placebo - Running Up That Hill
Lacuna Coil - Enjoy The Silence
Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar
Evanescense - Thoughtless

Prince - Nothing Compares to U
(although he wrote the original anyway, so does it actually count because he recorded it second?)

And Chakka Khan's cover of Prince's original is an 80s classic!

Amy Whinehouse - Valerie (cover of The Zutons original track)

Loved some of the Radio 1 covers.

One I thought was really good was Liberty X singing Radioheads High & Dry, not a fan of Liberty X at all, quite like Radiohead but the cover (as far as I remember) was really good.

Think it was on in August/September 2001, never heard it since.

When Lost Prophets were in Cardiff a few weeks back they played Prodigy's Omen and Marilyn Manson's Beautifull People, both were amazing.

Other Radio 1 covers - Editors doing The Cure's Lullaby
Foo Fighters doing Wing's (Not the Chinese woman) Band on the Run.

All the best

Gerald.
