Okay, I admit it, I've never heard Paloma Faith before. I'd heard & read her name, but not the voice.
Went to the BBC website & on the homepage was a link to her singing the Sade song Smooth Operator.
Well, when i say singing, I mean MURDERING THE BLOODY SONG!
And if you read some of the comments left, either her family left those, or I need to get my hearing checked
I know its unfair to judge a singer on one song, but I won't be adding her CD to my "To buy" list

Not my thing, I much prefer the smoother style of Sade for that song, but I think saying she is murdering it is somewhat harsh.
It's a bit different, but then that's what you want from another artist surely? Otherwise you may as well have put on the original.
Talking of covers, I absolutely love Florence and the Machines' rehash of You've Got the Love.

Agree with RJS here, and I'm not particularly a Sade fan. Personally felt it didn't really suit her style and was actully too similar to Sade's version. On the other hand, the other track Upside Down was pretty good even though, again, it's not really my thing...

I'm with Pat this time.
Clicked on the other one, "upside down" half expecting a cover again to find it wasn't a song I knew (might still be a cover but not one I know
Her singing wasn't as bad as trying Smooth Operator but still not what I'd call a major track for mass market.
Like a few other acts recently (I'd put Paolo Nutini right into this category) they sound like good pub entertainment bands but definitely not ready to be out there in a big way.
Florence is a cracking version of You got the Love and I was just talking about that with a passenger last night... couldn't remember which ad but could see it in my head and thanks to Mr S's link I saw it was O2 ![]()

Oh my giddy aunt! I lasted a minute of that Smooth Operator cover. WTF? She crucified it! Flat, off-key, wavering - bloody awful!
Couldn't face the other track. Jeepers, I can sing better than that.

Am i the only person who absolutly cant blood stand florence & her bloody machine. Her voice irritates the hell out of me. Alinis Morisette mulitplied by 10.
Over hyped BS if you ask me.
Bloody hell - that Florence thing looks like Bianca! Might as well be shouting at Ricky as well. I agree, Neil, not good!
I cant stand Florence and the machine either and cant understand people going mad about how great they are ..she sounds like a cat being stamped on to me
..and that cover of youve got the love is awful

Heh it's not a "they" it's a "she"!
I really like her stuff though. Makes a nice change from the autotune crap out there.

I like Florence and The Machine, quirky is how I'd describe it - which I know equates to **** in some people's opinions.
