Thanks for the links Admars. Not overly concerned about the £5 printer saving as I'd like local return for any issues, but the links for the ink certainly made me sit up and look.
Bookmarked for that! Lol

Snaps... I was considering Wordpad but although for you, me and everyone else here it's easy, I'm not 100% sure it won't be a little too confusing for Mum but it was certainly my front-runner when I started the thread. 
If Notepad didn't print as crap as it did it also could have been a contender as I just want it to write and print basically.

Mr S. I might have to try that but there's nothing there I can see like a demo to check how easy or hard it is to use...?

And remember guys, she's 87! It needs to be easy to get on with or she'll just push it aside Cool
