Sony STR-DE495P A/V receiver - Can I use 6 Ohm speakers?

Harmless

Hi,

I have just been given a Sony STR-DE495P a/v receiver and was wondering if it is ok to use a pair of Panasonic rear surround and centre speakers, that are rated at 6 ohms?  It's probably a stupid question as the amp says 8 to 16 ohm speakers on the back.

Can I do anything to modify the speakers to 8 ohms?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Cheers
Jamie

From memory you just lose or gain a little volume.

They may be a bit louder than 8-16 ohm speakers but you can adjust the rear speaker volume and set them as 'small' so they are not overdriven, I expect.
