iPod Classic Cover Flow problem

Hi all,

I have a 5th generation 160gb iPod Classic and I have an on-going problem with Cover Flow.

Cover Flow displays the cd covers but then hits two problems;
1. some cds are duplicated (with exact same track listings)
2. some (mainly various artists) cds have mulitiple listings, each showing different artists.

I've tried filling out the various boxes in "Get Info" in iTunes (Sort Album, Sort Artist etc) but the problems keep re-occurring. Any suggestions please?

1) Duplicates: Go into itunes / File / Display Duplicates. Brings up list of duplicates - just manually delete the ones you don't need again.
2) On info for each album or track un-click 'Part of compilation'

I think!

Well, sort of.
I had one 50 track "Various Artists" album that was showing as 50 albums.

Uder the view tabs, I first clicked the third tab to show Albums (next to the search box, top right) then slid the slider to show them as small of possible.

I highlighted the 50 tracks then right clicked.
In the dropdown was "get info"
a pop-up asked something like "are you sure you want to edit muli files at the same time" (that might not be word for word, but it was something like that)
clicked yes then a menu box appeared.

There are four tabs at the top.
Info, Video, Sorting & Options.

Under info tab the first box is Artist
the second is Album artist.
In the album artist box i entered Various Artists
make sure the tick box next to album artist is ticked.

As the artist, album & track details were already in-bedded i didn't enter anything else in any of the other fields.

Then I clinked the "OK" tab at the bottom & instead of 50 albums showing in "Albums" I now had just the one.
Happy

badboybez. I wouldn't of clicked on "get info" without your post because I thought it would of meant searching for the info on-line, changing the details I'd already set on my files, so thanks for the info.

if you do need to un-click "Part of compilation", its under the fourth tab, Options, third box

aja007 hope this works for you as it did for me

really off-topic I know, but isn't 160gb Ipod Classic the 6th gen?

Only asking as the 160gb Ipod Classic is the one I've got & I'm planning on ordering a new back plate from e-bay. I'm waiting for the tools to take it apart to arrive from Deal Extreme before I order a new one.

All the back plates I've seen all seem to be listed as being 6th gen like this one.
