digilogic DST85000 Freeview box problems....

Competent

Hi, This box is around 8 years old bought it when we could get digital tv, its works really crap missing channels and always blocking up.....could it be too old now are the later boxes better?

Have you still got the instructions? If not, try to look online...I'm wondering if it needs a firmware update? These usually come through the aerial, and are downloaded through the onscreen menu.

Also, how strong is the signal in your area? Do you have an adequate aerial? Did it work previously with the same set up or have you just installed it in a new room?

Some boxes are way better than others, but in this instance we're talking about the signal lock, which isn't always mentioned in reviews, unfortunately. They always assume you have a 100% signal strength when they review these boxes, which is very rarely the case.unfortunately.

i notice that it has very poor reviews, it wont pick up itv or channel 4 on the channel 60.....the other boxes we have work fine off the same airel...its just a crap box i think

Well, if other boxes work fine off the same connection, then it must be a weak box. Make sure you have taken one from another room and tested it in the same room with the same wires though, because it could just be a faulty lead somewhere.
