Freeview HD PVR with USB Archiving?

Anybody know of a Freeview PVR ideally with Freeview HD which can archive material to a removable drive via USB?  And are there any copy-protection shenanigans with such equipment?

Not the answer you're looking for, but my Panny TV can save TV programmes to an inserted USB HDD instead of a PVR, I think it uses a manufacturer specific format though (you can't plug the USB into a PC to see what you have, and I think only one brand of USB drive is compatible, Toshiba), and I'm sure the Freeview HD transmissions are DRM'd. Also, the HDD is locked to the TV that it's plugged into, you can't transfer it to an identical TV to watch. Pretty useless for archiving.

EDIT: I'd do it the long way round. Record to PVR, burn to DVD, rip to HD and archive.

Super Admin

I know the older Humax's could do this, although copying across the USB to a PC (you couldn't do it to a stick) took hours.

I have one of those Humax boxes, very rarely used now as the TV has a freeview tuner so I have to boot the box, find the channel and wait for the EPG to update to set a recording, I find iplayer and torrents easier to use for that.

When I move to my new house very soon I hope to build some sort of MythTV/NAS affair that I can use from anywhere on any device,  quite ambitious I think, especially as I want to create an app for my Android tab to control it all from. Still, doesnt help the OP at all.

there is a box listed on e-bay that records to usb but its not HD freeview.
Then again it is under £20 so what would you expect.
here's another, this one records to usb & SD cards for £26
this one is the cheapest I saw at under £19 but again its not HD. (smallest unit too)

I'm sure I've seen something that does what you are after somewhere, will see it i can find it.....
