Upgrade from yamaha seperates to all in one sys?

Competent

Hi - I have had a seperates sys for years  - yamaha HTR5540 reciever and yamaha sattelite speaker package - bought 6 years ago and they have braved every storm as I update my dvd player nearly every year.  It is currently paired with an LG Blu ray player.  My question is should I update to a new yamaha reciever with HDMI or go for an all in one system like the sony bdv-e370 or bdv-e300?  I would hope to hear an improvement on my current system and of course both the sony sytems main unit are tidier and better looking than my old yamaha amp so they would look good in the front room.  I'm tired or people thinking my system is old fashioned because of the bulkiness of they yamaha reciever - can anyone else relate to this?

Best Wishes

Dan

I'd audition the Sony kit if I was you.
Then you'll pop out and buy your preferred Yamaha receiver Winking

Sony kid sounds very high in mid range, as if you've taken a graphic equaliser and shoved the centre three bands up high.
Always have done and never known them to change it (even on the recent in car unit I had to return for being faulty although it did sound better than their older stuff)

Best person to tell ya what the best options are though is the Doc if he happens to pop into the thread Winking

Elite

Been out the game nearly 2 years now and only went in to a hi-fi shop for the first time since, last week. So to be honest I doubt I am the best person to ask now. (was I ever?)

Having said that I would not touch an all in one with yours.
