I've had my Sony amp now for getting on for ten years, and it still works perfectly well, but I've just recently bought a Sony CD/DAB radio/ iPod dock and discovered that the remote also operates the old amp. Does anybody know of a way of sorting this out? Sony are no damn help and googling only results in all-for-one codes.

There's usually an A-B code thingy with Sony remotes. If it clashes with something, you switch it to the B setting so it operates on a different set of remote codes. It means looking at the manual though...

Look under the battery flaps of both devices too for a switch or button.
IIRC Sony were marked ABC or 123 and as long as the unit it was commanding and the remote were switched to the same they worked ok.
Sometimes required unplugging and repowering up to set the code.
Otherwise... erm.... buy Panasonic? ![]()
