Samsung DVD511 - Hack
posted by scouse on Monday, 19th February 2001, 18:51

Harmless

Just bought a Samsung 511, the hack for multi region is simple, but is it limited or can I keep changing the region as often as I wish? The reason I ask is because as a region 2 (factory set) player, I am able to video films no problem, but when I change to multi region this is not possible, so if the changes are limited, I dont want it to stick on multi region as it will be more useful set on region 2. If anyone has the answer, please let me know.

To be honest I didnt do anything, i just contected the video/audio cable via a scart adapter to the back of the video, set the video to au and away it went. All i can think is that as my Hitatchi 410 is a good few years old, its not affected by the new software in the DVD. This is probably not much help to you, but you may want to give it a try if you have not already.

I can record some DVDs and not others. The top titles like Matrix ect won't tape, but i managed to tape Perfect Storm and Seven with no problems. DVDs with PC Friendly on seem to tape ok with no interference of macro.

Mostly Harmless

Does anyone know how to return the DVD-511 back to its factory setting so that all the functions work correctly?

I don't need it as a multi region anymore so I want to get it back to what it was.
