I was not aware that DVD players could be set to a certain region. I am unable to leave the house very often due to ill health, and have been watching DVD's which is ruined when I try to zoom to make screen larger by an icon remaining on the screen throughout film. Normal view is half the size of the TV screen.
Can anybody help with a code I can enter in the remote to remove it?
Bella
I don't think there is any code to remove that I'm afraid.
It's a feature of the DVD player to let you know you've zoomed in, which in your case is obviously annoying. ![]()

Does your telly have a zoom control that you can use instead of the DVD players?
You might also want to check your DVD player's set-up to see if it's set for anamorphic TVs.

Normal view is half the size of the TV screen.Bella, what shape is your TV? Is it widescreen or the old 4:3 square shape?
Out of interest, is it an old tube TV or a modern flatscreen type (this could be LCD or plasma)?
I think your problem is that you have your settings wrong. Please explain where the black bands are on the screen when you watch a DVD - to the sides or above and below or all round?
My guess is this: You have a widescreen TV, but your DVD player is outputting in 4:3 letterbox, as this would result in black bands all the way round the picture, so it sits in the middle of the screen. If I am right, you need to go into the settings of the DVD player, to the display section, and outut as 16:9 widescreen.
Let me know if this is making any sense, and if it works. A DVD image should fit the screen when the settings are correct.
