While I'm happy to say this hack worked. How to change the code was not so simple. While doing this I must have changed others on the list. My DVD recorder no longer has any TV channels no amount of re-setting works. Even changing back to the old code. Any ideas? many thanks

Dear Calpe,

Do you by any chance also know the codes for the UK? I had a problem and changed my settings as per your instructions. This has solved one problem, but now I can't get UK digital channels anymore.

Thanks!

Thank you VERY much to the kind soul that took the time to find and post this hack. It is very much appreciated.

Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat but I have had the same unit for about the same length of time and I am becomming infuriated by the fact that it does not seem to stay set to 1080P mode.

The manual is rubbish but, following these instructions, it will remember the setting for a variable length of time and then revert to 720. I check with the TV's I(nfo) button and it shows 1920 x 1,080 50Hz (I think) for a few occassions/days but then back to 720.

Also, is there a Macrovision disable hack at all?

Really annoying because the rest of the unit's functionality is nice for the £170 I paid for it.
Can anyone help please?

I've found exactly the same thing, however I think it maybe related to what input the TV is on to start off with.

i.e. on my panasonic TV, if it's watching standard freeview channels local to the TV and I turn the DVD recorder on, it flicks to 576 res.

If I have it on HDMI before I turn the RHT497H on, it stays on 1080i..., as long as I always have the HDMI channel fired up prior to turning on the LG recorder.

Seems to work.

Totally agree though, the manual is trash, such a shame for such a fantastic machine.

I've had issues with dubbing, chapters, resolution changes and all turn out not to be faults, just issues with the manual not explaining matters. Great bit of kit Happy

Thanks for those tips with the HD setup. I will give them a go ASAP and will report back after a good bit of testing.

Anyone know is there a Macrovision disable hack at all?
