I went to see him in Hammersmith a few years ago and he was amazing, his show was 2 hours + with no break so some people did go to the loo etc and as someone else said he had a crac with them so not sure whats changed tbh.......
That was probably the gig I forgot to go to ![]()
I've been to a few theatres in the last few years, and I haven't noticed any of the moans here. ![]()

I think the difference with the incident at the Opera House was that he wasn't dealing with a heckler or somebody off to the loo. Apparently he was getting a mouthful from an Injured Party - obviously the joke had hit a raw nerve with the woman in the audience and rather than doing the normal thing of walking out disgusted, she decided to have a go at him. He couldn't do a put down or laugh it off, he just had to stand there and take it, and listen to this woman completely kill the atmosphere he'd spent building up.
It must have been mortifyingly embarrassing for him (and most of the audience). When she'd finished, the best thing he could have done is walk off, I suppose.

Hadn't seen this thread.
We actually went to see Billy Connoly on Fri night.
When we got there they said that at Billy's request no alcohol would be allowed in the venue.
The venue was ludicrously hot though and I was drifting off 40mins in. My girlfriend is pregnant aswell so she was really struggling and would have left at least once if we weren't right in the middle just because of the heat.
Fair play thought as he must have enjoyed it, as after the 2 walkouts in the past week his set was 2 and a half hours with no interval!
Also Llandudno audiences are terrible for hillbilly hecklers ruining the show, and I had big concerns, but there was no heckles throughout. I'm assuming it was a combination of an older audience plus the lack of drink.
With regards to Billy Connolly, we weren't blown away and probably wouldn't see again. I've never watched one of his shows in full before and we just got tickets as my brother and his girlfriend were taking her dad, so thought it would be good to check out.
Most of the audience were ****ing themselves throughout so think, it was more a case of just not for us.

Also with regards to admars comments I agree that Jimmy Carr is really good and does seem generally pleased that all the people have come to see him.
I also agree with the ludicrousness of going to beat ques. If I take a drink in to a venue it's the one pint when I first go in, if there's ques at the interval I would wait until later rather than missing any of the show!

we just saw Billy Connolly. He was brilliant, I hadn't seen him before, missus had many years ago, as above 2.5 hours, non stop, no hecklers, right at the beginning of the set he made a few jokes about the papers, and how they're full of lies
Few jokes about Murdoch, he doesn't strike me as a big Sun fan.
No hecklers (he did make some jokes about them), and as far as i could see audience on best behaviour, no leaving their seats ![]()

At two theaters we go to for comedy you can pre order your interval drinks. Pay up front and they are there waiting for you.Pretty sure that's normal for every theatre in London too.
