Half yearly operating profits drop from £54m to £3m. It's owners who also have Homebase, have seen its profits drop 74%. (sure they are correct from what I overheard)

I think they're another big victim of supermarkets selling everything as well as internet.

I'm sure when I was a kid, Argos used to be cheapest place in high street for toys and most other things, but now with supermarkets selling more or less everything Argos do, in store, and then tesco have their own Argos style catalogue, and homestores you can see before you buy.

Is nothing safe in this day and age???? Where else will I be able to visit a store, write down what I want on a piece of paper, queue up for 10 minutes to pay for it, another 10 minutes for it to mysteriously work its way down from a hidden store room to a shelf 6ft in front of me, and then another 10 minutes for someone to actually bring it to me?

I have my own little rule. Whomever has the first Christmas ad that I see, don't get my business over the period. This year it was........ Argos.

They do it to themselves.

Have to admit, I do not use Argos as much as I used to, In fact, I bought nothing there this year at all.

Precisely.
Why do all that when Amazon do everything and will deliver it, probably cheaper.
Bye bye Agros I think.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was.
Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary

But if you have a problem Argos will swap the goods usually with no argument

Unfortunately, after sales service comes a distant second to price and convenience. Till people need it that is.

Oh no, no more Argos catalogues?
Damned handy for the kids to browse through, before taking note and getting it elsewhere.....
Oh, and their TV prices used to give me a laugh.
