People who shamelessly sue like that should be named and shamed themselves.

Absolutely.
We already have ridiculous scenarios in this country.
Like the racetrack in England that's been there for decades, now being threatened with closure due to noise complaints by people who've lived next to it for decades...
And physical-type TV programmes being filmed in Argentina, because Health and Safety regulations are ridiculously OTT here.
Surely, in this scenario, if the organisers can get written statements from witnesses saying the woman was repeatedly warned to move her foot/feet, she has to held culpable.

I was standing about 30 yards further up the hill from her,
No, this happened at Mill Lane corner, which was further down the track, and the man that spoke to her 5 times told me about it directly afterwards, it's also where we sent the ambulance. (The guy runs his own PR firm and is a thoroughly nice bloke, who I believe implicitly)
The only lessons needed to be learned are to try to get more villagers to volunteer as marshals. We had to cover the track with the few volunteers we had, and sadly that meant spreading them out thinner than I'd have liked.
It doesn't excuse her pig-ignorance and stupidity though

you should have a policy that each race does not start until every marshall has given the all-clear via their walkie talkies to confirm that NO ONE is in the road at all.
We tried that last year and it just didn't work. 5 minutes between races meant the crowd got bored and starte walking back up the hill, causing over-crowding and forcing other spectators onto the road.
The basic rule of thumb about this event, and others like it, is that it's a racetrack for a day. You don't stand on the track at Buckmore park, why on ours? No, sorry Sue, she, and others, were given enough warnings, in person and over the tannoys system to get out of the track. She'd already seen 30 plus races so she knew EXACTLY where the racing line was, and how close to the bales they were getting

This popped into my head earlier today and made me think of all those scenarios especially when you were a child...
"Don't touch the fire, it's hot and will burn you (repeat 3 or 4 times)"
OWWWWWWWWWWW it burned me <insert lots of high pitched screaming and crying>
"How many times did I tell you not to touch it?"
(and now in today's mindset....)
....but never mind, we'll sue the manufacturer for making it cos you didn't listen to anyone and got hurt!
It's stupid and ridiculous. She ignored repeated warnings and got hurt, therefore she was responsible for her own actions and if her case goes ahead, the Kart driver should counter sue for the mental anguish she has caused him from running over her foot, and Pete, so should you for the stress this whole thing is now causing you ![]()
I know, stupid.. but so is this woman's claim!

You'd best save me a visivest for next year then. I can kick ass when it comes to marshalling.
Absolutely! The more the merrier

I long for the days when you took responsibility for your own actions.
How hard can it be. Race, fast things, straw bale, barrier, sit on barrier, bad. Sit on non race side of barrier, safe.
It's not that cocking difficult. An adult should not have to be told once, let alone several times.

Also never forget, the whole point of a legal system is it is a system. Everybody has the right to try and sue anybody else for any reason they can think of, the legal system has many steps with which this dispute can be sorted out.
The real problem with the legal system is bad solicitors, they will sometimes give you the impression that you have a good case when you don't, or have a bad case when you do. ![]()

And also the fact that in today's claim culture most insurance companies will settle a claim without going further just because it's easier and less cost for them in the long run cos they're just chucking it onto the legitamate members of society amongst us.
Recently told of a guy who hurt himself a few years ago at work, broke his wrist (was his fault apparently)
He went with a no-win, no-fee.
Expected a couple of grand if lucky.
Scheister told him claim was submitted... "How much did you ask for, 5 grand or something" he asked.
"No"
"ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE"
He almost had kittens and couldn't believe what he heard.
Obviously the 125K wasn't accepted so they settled... at £75K.
75 grand for a broken f**king wrist?!
Time something was done about insurance companies and these scheister who just rip the rest of us off.
Keep us all up to date Pete... and get that newspaper interview going.. we might even end up seeing ye on the news on the telly! lol
