Thought I'd start this after getting The French Connection. Its bad I'll tell you. I'm convinced my VHS copy is better.

Horses for courses, I guess.  I thought the Predator Ultimate Edition looked superb with lots of detail to the picture...

The majority of the film with its outdoor scenes does look great. The opening 5-10 minutes has the issue above.

'Great' is subjective. The whole thing looks like it's slathered in DNR to me. Textures just don't look right. You can add Optimum's release of Escape from New York to this list, along with A Tale of Two Sisters, Gladiator (original), and... oh, you get the idea.

Some of the early Star Trek, esp The Wrath of Khan, picture is good but the sound is terrible.

All of the early films have a lot of DNR, especially The Undiscovered Country.

No, no it's not. It's not great, but it's better than the DVD. It's the sound that borked on that one, as it's the crappy 5.1 remix.
