KACHING- Star Wars next release planned - not the Bluray one

Yes, thats right, the next round of cash milking by GL has been announced, all 6 movies are to be re-released in 3D.

BTW I have been a Star Wars fan for the last 30 years, my dad took me to an Episode 4/5 double bill in Redruth, Cornwall and I was hooked ever since. But I really am starting to feel pretty jaded with all the constant "what else can we change to get people to pay more money for pretty old rope" ideas he comes up with.

Oh, FFS!!  I suppose this means George will look on these new CardboardCutOut-O-Vision versions as the definitive versions, and the Original, Flat, Unfarted-About Versions will wind up even further out of favour.

See, I'd love to see Star Wars in true 3D, but we all know the cardboard cut out 3D is all we can hope for.

Mind you, if anyone has the money to make a 3D version which is actually as close to true 3D as you can get, it's Lucas.

To be fair he announced his intention to do this ages ago.

Did it go something like.

"Take note. I George of Lucas here by give you fair warning that I will continue to be a money grabbing beardy ****."

This strikes me as one of the most unashamedly blatant cash-ins in the recent history of cinema.  Retrofitting (or dimensionalising) films that are over 30 years old and were shot in good old-fashioned 2-D seems just like a cynical way of milking even more money from Star Wars fans who are all too happy to hand it over to George Lucas.

Once the theatrical run is out of the way, I wouldn't bet against Lucas trying to release 3-D BDs of the films so that you can quadruple dip on exactly the same movie!

Ready to See Jar Jar Binks Again in Glorious 3D?Quote:
Revealed today is the date for the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D. According to
AVClubQuote:
, Mark your calendars for February 10, 2012 – be it so that you can be camped out in line or to cruise by to see all those in costume.

Lucasfilm plans to release the films again in order of the story at a rate of one per year. That means that fans of the original trilogy – and the original trilogy only – won't be getting the first taste of the 1970s classic until 2015.

Have I fallen out of love with the Star Wars franchise or was I never REALLY in love with it in the first place?  Or is it simply that I've just it too many times to consider it again.  I've always planned to upgrade my LOTR extended editions to BD, but in all honesty I'm more than happy with the original trilogy on DVD and have no intention to follow suit and 3D just doesn't interest me at all.
