When I see something in 3D, I'm looking for extra depth to the the image, not things flying at the camera every few moments.
That's what I didn't like about it: there's no particular depth. Apart from it being blurry when I looked over the top of my glasses s I could see it *was* 3D, it just looked *almost* 2D.
(Only 1 thing comes out of the screen, IIRC, a ball bounces towards the screen near the start or maybe that was in a trailer.)

I read somewhere that 3D stuff is dimmer than 2D? This true?

Just saw this - thought it was superb. Thought there was quite a subtle and clever depth to a few scenes - and no gimmicky 3D popout moments. However, I too felt watching it in 3D added nothing at all to the experience.
All in all, I thought the last half hour or so was especially superb - and would rate it slightly behind TS2 - and ahead of 1. Not that many really funny moments in it (funniest probably being Buzz set to Spanish (especially in the closing credits, and a few of Ken's lines.) compared to TS2.
We all enjoyed it - even though it cost nearly £30 admission. (Bromborough)

The IMAX screen measures 8.75m high by 16.46m wide.
So I'll be seeing it 3d at my local Picture House (enjoyed Up in 3d some ppl said that didn't need to be seen in 3d but it looked excellent, not full of flying in your face rubbish).
The missus and I just saw Toy Story 3 in 3D and loved it. Like Up, I don't think 3d is essential, but I think you're missing out if you don't see it in 3d.
I'd imagine the short beforehand would be pretty lifeless and flat in 2d? It certainly wasn't the funniest of the pre films shorts, but visually was outstanding.
As for Toy Story 3, I think it's the best of the 3 (we watched 1 and 2 again last couple of weeks), as as well as being extremely funny, is very exciting as well
10/10

But it is very exciting - the whole escape plan is superbly executed. ![]()
The short beforehand is a great use of 3D but not at all sure what you think you're missing by not seeing the feature in 3D...
9.5/10 (10/10 for TS2..) ![]()

I think it's adds to the experience, and the enjoyment. Bit like HD Vs SD. HD isn't necessary, but makes things look nicer. Although the SPOILER:
train sequence at the beginning made use of depth, as did the SPOILER:
end escape along the conveor belt.
