James Cameron`s Avatar

For those who haven't heard, cinemas worldwide will be showing a 15 minute preview of James Cameron's Avatar on August 21st.

Apparently, only the BFI London and Manchester IMAX will be showing the IMAX print as there are only two copies allocated to the UK. Details are sketchy about the Real-D and regular versions, but I expect most capable cinemas will have some showings at least.

I will be seeing the final film in IMAX so probably won't bother with the trek to Manchester for this. I hope Real-D is enough to sufficiently melt my eyeballs.

I can't wait! Grinning

My mate who works for Peter Jackson's WETA was over from New Zealand on Tuesday and I met up for lunch with him.
They've been working on Avatar for a long time now (over 2 years I think) and they're deadline is November.
He got to meet James Cameron recently and said what a nice bloke he was (albeit quite imposing). He's also managed to see a good cut of the film. He said it was 3h15m long, but that it was simply brilliant - so I can't wait either.

When I was in New Zealand 2 years ago, missus and I went on a "Lord of the RIngs tour", and we saw the massive green screen being used in Avatar, I took a picture of it to prove it. It's as good as the one of a car park which was used for a swamp scene Tongue

Well, tickets to the preview became available today... for about 5 minutes and then the server crashed Sad

Empire and Total Film both have 10% of the screenings exclusively (see the respective sites) but none of their screenings are near me.

Waiting patiently for the official site to become unborked.

Trust Fox to completely balls this up Sad

I hope Rand Millar gets a credit for inspiration.

I'm going to guess that the 10-foot tall blue guys are supposed to be genetically-engineered drones controlled by the brainwaves of, in this case, a disabled soldier, but it transpires that they're not drones, but the indigenous population of the Planet (Pandora, I believe) and thus begins the struggle to free the Na'vi from enforced slavery. $450 million might make it look good, but that's a plot I could have pulled out of my arse

if, indeed, that IS the plot
