I've just finished watching this and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

The portrayal of what sometimes appear to be 'real' people (rather than mere characters) really makes this a great film IMHO anyway! Grinning
OK, so the story isn't gripping or does it have a twisting plot, but what it does have is an enjoyable and thoughtful portrayal of life around the time of the Falklands War and a little boy going through a tough time after his father is killed in the Falklands.

Anyway, just wanted to say that if there's anyone out there who hasn't seen it yet, its well worth a watch.

For anyone who seen and liked this film, check out Shane Meadows earlier films.

I've only just recently seen A Room For Romeo Brass and I actually preffered it to this is England.

The boxset with This Is England, Dead Man's Shoes, TwentyFourSeven and A Room For Romeo Brass is currently £25 on Play.com, but I'm a cheapskate and I'm waiting for it to come down again Winking

I've only seen Dead Man's Shoes, from when it was on tv, gf and really enjoyed that. We recorded Romeo Brass, and TwentyFourSeven when they were on a while ago, but haven't watched them yet. We meant to see This is England at cinema, but didn't get round to it.

Channel 4 are currently running the follow-up to the film called "This Is England 86" as a four-parter.

I'm struggling to remember the full details of the film so will need to re-watch it before I watch the 'sequel'.

I've got the dvd out to watch again before watching 86.

It's a 3 parter isn't it? I've Sky +'d it anyway and will probably do a watch in a couple of weeks when I can watch all 3 parts Happy

Again I highly recommend A Room For Romeo Brass also.

Somer's Town is pretty good aswell.  It's a only a short one about hour or so and is basically an advert for Eurostarr.  Well they don't really feature in it but funded it by was of advertising, was originally supposed to be a 5/10minute thing but ended up being developed into a full story.

It stars the young lad from This Is England aswell, Thomas Turgoose?

That will be cheery viewing I'm sure full of Christmas spirit! I've avoided reading much or looking at the pictures, but the mention of nativity has me interested Happy

Fantastic!!! I was a bit late to the party (and saw 86 before the film) but this was great drama with very interesting characters.

The only better TV news this xmas would be that they aren't doing another Royale Family special.
