Privacy Policy

Here at Reviewer we are 100% committed to protecting both your privacy and security. We want you to feel completely safe when using our website, so you can enjoy the experience without worrying about any abuse of your personal information.

To help you feel at ease, this page will explain ALL of the information we record with regard to our visitors, why we do it and what we will use it for.

Do you use cookies?

Yes, we use cookies for a number of purposes.

Certain preferences are stored in cookies which allow us to change the way our website appears to you. These are used to affect font size, your chosen region etc. We do not keep track of this information or use it for any purpose other than the customisation of our website for your browser. Your preferences are entirely anonymous.

Cookies are also used as a method of allowing any visitor to see which parts of our site have been updated since their last visit. If you do not currently have an account with our website, then once again we do not keep track of this information or use it for any other purpose than the customisation of our website for your browser. This information is again entirely anonymous, unless you have registered and are currently logged in using an account.

We also use cookies as a method of counting the number of unique visitors who browse our website in any given month, however this information is entirely anonymous and only used to increment our counters.

If you have created an account on our website, then we will also use cookies to track your login. This is solely for your convenience and we only do this to prevent the endless need to re-enter your username and password when posting reviews or messages to our forums.

What information do you collect?

We collect a number of different types of information from our visitors.

Every page you view is logged by our webserver along with the IP address of the computer you are viewing it from. There are only two things we do with this information. The first involves the collation of this information using statistics software into anonymous data with which we can guage page popularity, where our visitors come from, what times of the day are busiest, and so on. The second thing we do with this information is protect the security of our website, by locating people who are attempting to damage our systems, using our site to post illegal or abusive information, or avoiding a ban from viewing our pages.

When you create an account on our website, we will record your name, chosen login details and also your email and IP address. You can optionally include some information about yourself for other users to see, which will also be recorded, but solely for the purpose of displaying it to other users.

If you have created an account, then whenever you are logged in we will record data which is solely used for the purpose of reminding you which parts of the site have changed since your last visit, and which reviewers you most agree with. We will also record the date your account was created, the date you last logged in, and any reviews or messages you post to our website.

Do you spam emails?

No, we do not send out spam emails, now an offence in the UK. If you believe you have received them from us then please let our administrators know, as many genuine spammers fake emails to appear to be sent from a legitimate source such as ours when in actual fact they have not.

We obtain email addresses from two main sources, account creation and competition entries.

Any email addresses collected when creating an account will receive one email containing your username and password. We will send emails to this account when requested to do so by our lost password feature, or required due to abuse on our forums, or at the request of another user on our site, however your address is protected from all third parties unless you decide to reveal it directly yourself. If you were given an option to, and chose not to opt out of our newsletter and special offers mailing lists, we may also occasionally send you information we beleive is of interest to you.

Additionally, we may also send emails to addresses collected when creating an account relating to our online game gremlins, this is purely for informative purposes to let you know that there are things going on that you need to log in for. This also only happens whilst you have a living gremlin.

On our competition pages, we offer people entering a chance to opt out of joining our mailing list. If we do use this list to send out emails, we will always provide detailed instructions on how to be removed from the list. We do not want to send emails with special offers, information and so on, to people who do not wish to receive it.

If you find that you have been put on our mailing list by accident then we will remove your details upon request.

How do you protect my personal information?

We do not collect any personal information which you do not knowingly submit to our website. We also will not pass on any personal information we do collect to a third party. We may, however, pass on anonymous data which is not traceable to you, including statistics on website usage, page views, unique visitors per month, and so on. In addition, your email address, preferences and other non-public information is private and will not be disclosed to any other visitor.

Anything else we should know about?

Not that we are aware of. However the internet is a constantly changing place, and people's concerns alter over time. In the future our visitors may wish to know our stance on issues not raised on this webpage, so we reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time to correct any inaccuracies and add new answers to new questions. However we will always post to our site news page explaining that things have changed and why we have changed them.
