I think the poor World Cup and another injury may have been just what was needed to keep Torres.
The only problem now is it's another injury and means he won't get a proper pre-season, plus haven't you got City and Arsenal in the first 2games from memory?
Obviously could do with the club being on a good run without him, so he's not rushed straight into the first team like Benitez has done every year, which has meant that he's had about 5/6 sub-par performances whilst he's getting his match fitness back plus possibly has caused further injuries down the line.

I tell you what would be interesting if this was Ronaldo doing this.
But obviously Torres doesn't dive ![]()

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

From the BBC
Quote:
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has declared the club are not going to sell captain Steven Gerrard and Spanish international striker Fernando Torres.
Hodgson has held talks with duo and said: "Steven Gerrard is not for sale - I made that clear to him."
On Torres, he added: "He is not for sale and we don't welcome any offers for him. We want to keep him."
Lets see how true those words are when real bids come in for them.

Liverpool have completed the signing of midfielder Joe Cole on a four-year deal following his release by Chelsea.
The 28-year-old England international left Stamford Bridge in June after failing to agree a new contract with the Premier League champions.
Cole, who was also linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours.
At last a signing !!!!

An expensive one.
Tottenham baulked at his (frankly silly) wage demands.

Certainly is but it's a much needed big name.

An expensive one. I don't think it is really. £90,000 a week - and he was a free transfer.
Total cost of about say £15m over 3 years (sadly) doesn't strike me as expensive when you can go out and easily spend that much as a transfer fee alone.

Don't forget that Benayoun went to Chelsea for £6million plus must have been on about £50k a week anyway so it pretty much works out as an exact swap.
The only concern would obviously be an injury problems still. Strangely last season was one of his better seasons for appearances in recent years, whereas if you're like me you'd think he was injured most of the season.
I'd have definitely have had him at Utd.
