Liverpool negotiating Rafa`s departure according to Sky Sports news

Apparently they are negotiating a package for mutual termination.  So basically trying to get out of paying him the full contract.

Will be interesting if Rafa tries to play hardball after they've made his position untenable.

I think that is the only end I could see happening - he was never going to get the sort of figures the papers like to quote.

Unless Inter are looking to appoint, I also think it will be a lot higher than the £3million currently being quoted as the offer.

Think probably closer to £7/8million.  Rafa will be in the strong position as the club will know that they can't make any signings until the new manager has been appointed.

The gamble could be the putting on gardening leave trick and leaving Rafa to stew if he doesn't accept the offer.  Phil Brown still technically is manager of Hull City and they are still being rumoured to take him off gardening leave to save the sacking costs.

In fairness I think if Rafa doesn't have a job lined up then £7/8million is probably reasonable as that is half of his potential contract and Liverpool signed and him both signed it as a long term commitment.

Goal.com are reporting that he has been sacked. Until SSN have it, though...

And as soon as they put it up (I saw 30mins ago), Goal.com have taken that "breaking news" down.

After the way he has managed Liverpool he should be sacked with no money at all. In any other profession he would be sacked with nowt.

I don't understand why Arsne Wenger hasn't been sacked.

Arsenal haven't won any trophies for sometime

Any other manager would have been shown the door
