Yeah, I was amazed the ref didn't even give a foul for that first Carragher "challenge"!
I think that did set the tone and the other players thought they could get away with it too.

Unless i saw something different in the highlights wasnt Carragher's first challenge actually a "legal" one - just fecking hard ??
Since when was that a problem? I mean how girly / H&S-afied do we want the game to be??
I thought Kyriakos was slightly hard done by in his red card. I mean if he gets a red then so should Fellaini
I laugh when I hear "two footed tackle" - tell me when both players are running head on how else can you tackle ?
Unless you do the splits its nigh on impossible not to go with both feet and when you see the replay from behind the greek one of his feet was actually sliding along the floor (with both of fellainis feet about to land on it at that !!!)

gerrard is a great player but the way he went looking to get pienaar sent off was disgracful regardless of whether he should have been sent off in the first half.
I heard about this in the car and immediately started banging my head thinking he;d gone down a la Lafferty for Rangers last season
I was quite releived to see that what he'd actually done was go down due to a barge and just rolled over holding his head a little - it was IMO a yellow card and thus a sending off for a second red
The fact Pienaar was on the pitch longer than Kyriakos is an obvious joke!!

good run were on though weve been terrible throughout, i just fear that its a good enough turnaround to keep twafa in a job.
First thing that we've got right is we've started defending well again (and from a few accounts it seems the Greek has actually being doing some sterling work - as ive not seen many games etc then I cant say much but ive heard it said by a few people)
If you dont concede you cant lose games !!!
Sure it's not flowing football more like we had last season or the second half of the previous couple of seasons but then Rafa likes the pre christmas shackles and seeing as we had such a poor start and lost creative players to injury we really have had to start digging in and fighting for points
I think it actually says a lot that we've played like drains for 4 - 5 months and we're still in 4th spot and, i believe, if Pompey go bust we'd move to third above Arsenal??
IF we'd performed like we can do (a la last season) I think we could definitely be up their in the mix.
But the reality is we aren't. I just hope they get some confidence, keep working hard and grinding results out and as players come back they start to click more and that we then secure (as a minimum) top 4
If we manage to avoid a spanking at the Emitates on Wednesday I think catching Arsenal isnt out of the question
Although after Wednesday they will have played all their games against "the other 3 big 4 teams" whereas we still have to face Chelsea and Utd so that could scupper us a little

In that first challenge, Carragher went straight into the Everton player with his arm across the chaps chest/neck and sent him flying. A foul in my book ![]()
Anyway, do we all love Rafa again now the crisis is over?

Is that the same one that Dixon And Lawro reviewed? I dont remember them saying much "negative" about it - mind you I was half asleep

From my POV i'd say that its a case of focussing on critiqing the team/players and what is happening in terms of picking up points, effort, application etc etc and very much a case of ignoring the manager position and what may or may not happen / need to happen in the summer
Whether you deem it to be a crisis and/or whether you deem it to be averted by now probably depends on your definition of a crisis!!

I only saw the tackle "live" on Sky so didn't see any analysis of it. Just thought it set the tone of the match ie get stuck in...
When do Liverpool's Europa league matches start? Do you think Rafa will do his best to win it or will he "rest" players for the league matches?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Ive not loved Twafa for nearly three years, its why im torn.
Obviously i want the team to achieve all they can but I DO NOT want that man in charge one second longer then necessary.
If we finish 4th and get to say Europa semi final he'll claim that the season was successful regardless of what went before.
He is not the tactical genius hes painted to be, hes in fact tactical inept most of the time. His track record for signing players is abymsal (yes we all know about the good ones) and two trophies in 5 years is crap.
I dont care if he goes now or in the summer as long as he goes.
It matters not what happens in life, ive met the Mighty Bruce and my life is complete.

The difference being whilst Arsene has also made some dodgy signings theyve been nowhere near as bad as the sheer volume of crapness signed by Twafa.
Arsene also has a history of developing brilliant young players and his first five years went like this -
A month before Wenger formally took charge of the team, Wenger requested that the club sign French midfielders Patrick Vieira and Rémi Garde. His first match was a 2-0 away victory over Blackburn Rovers on 12 October 1996. Arsenal finished third in Wenger's first season, missing out on second place (occupied by Newcastle United), and hence the Champions League qualification, on goal difference.
In his second season (1997-98), Arsenal won both the Premier League and FA Cup, the second Double in the club's history. Arsenal had made up a twelve-point deficit on Manchester United and secured the league title with two games left. Key to the success was the inherited defense of Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Nigel Winterburn, Lee Dixon and Martin Keown, along with striker Dennis Bergkamp and a blend of Wenger's new signings, Emmanuel Petit as a partner for Patrick Vieira, winger Marc Overmars, and teenage striker Nicolas Anelka.
The following few seasons were comparatively barren with a series of near misses. In 1998-99, they lost the Premier League title to Manchester United by a single point on the final day of the season, and United also eliminated Arsenal in extra time in an FA Cup semi-final. In 1999-2000, Arsenal lost the UEFA Cup final to Galatasaray on penalties and the 2001 FA Cup Final to Liverpool 2-1. Wenger resolved to bring new players to the squad, with the controversial signing of out-of-contract Tottenham defender and former captain Sol Campbell as well as first-team players such as Fredrik Ljungberg, Thierry Henry and Robert Pirès.
The new signings would help Wenger's Arsenal achieve the Double once more in 2001-02. The crowning moment was the second to last game of the season, against Manchester United. Arsenal won 1-0 in a game which Arsenal were seen to have outplayed Manchester United. Arsenal went the whole season unbeaten away from home and scored in every single Premier League game that season, and completed the Double by beating Chelsea 2-0 in the final of the FA Cup with goals from Ray Parlour and Fredrik Ljungberg.
Twafas achievements (if you can call them that) hardly compare do they?
Wenger has earnt the right to go a few seasons without a trophy, though the tide will turn on him eventually. Twafa has earnt nothing for me and needs to clear off.

I gave Benitez the benefit of the doubt last night for claiming that Liverpool should have had a penalty last night, as he might not have seen it again to know if it was inside of outside the box.
Gerrard has come out today though calling the decision "crazy".
Is he on smack? The handball was clearly outside the box.
Andy Gray was debating last night about possibly Fabregas's foot being on the line of the box, but that's completely irrelevant as if it hit his foot that wouldn't have been a handball.
Should have been a freekick, but saying that it shouldn't have been a Liverpool kick in the first place. Gerrard just dropped (again
).
