Well that's him as good as gone

Quote:
Liverpool have reached an agreement to sell midfielder Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, subject to a medical.

The fee for the Spanish international is reported to be in the region of £30m but Liverpool said the terms of the deal would remain confidential.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Real Sociedad in August 2004.

A statement on Real's website confirmed the news and added that Alonso will arrive in Madrid on Wednesday "to undergo the required medical".

If the deal goes through Alonso will become the second Liverpool player to join the Spanish giants after full-back Alvaro Arbeloa's switch to the Bernabeu last week.

He wants to go though doesnt he so I guess we just have to get the best deal possible

I've spent the last 24 hours hearing he is 28 though - which is correct? (you;d think its a provable fact that reporters should not get wrong)

Rumours about Benitez having Aquilani deal done (in principle) and also about him sniffing round Juve for Christian Poulsen

Apparently he's had problems with injuries in the past 2 years, which is why he hasn't played to his full potential.

Anyone heard a few for him, originally they were saying Roma wanted 25million yoyo's, but heard that Liverpool weren't prepared to pay that.

How much for Poulsen also, £7/8million?

I heard £15 mill for the Roma player

Poulsen only went to Juve for £9m last yr so he wont be more than that as Juve have said he can leave

Also someone mentioned Daniel De Rossi (SP?) as a potential option

Because no one saw that coming, eh? Gerrard gets a 'twinge' and can't play for England. Happy

I'm amazed there is even an international game scheduled for this week.
