Will Alonso go?
If so who replaces him (if anyone)?

Rafa sniffed around Michael Johnson of Man City 2 years ago before he got injured and disappeared off the scene. Anyone think he may go back seeing as City are buying all and sundry?

If reports are to be believed then he defo wants to go so now its just a case of ringing as much money out of Madrid as possible, we should be able to get an extra 5 million or so if we hold out. The real problem is if Mascherano goes too as then we have a big hole in the middle of midfield and im not convinced any of the current squad is good enough to step up at the moment. You could drop Gerrard back but that leaves Torres isolated as weve not added anymore fire power, seems to that the bookies rumour on Ribery has dies on its ass too.

Who replaces Alonso if he goes.....not sure theres anyone out there at the moment good enough or affordable bearing in mind the craziness of this transfer window.

I think the way things are shaping up at the moment its all god news for Chelsea and Arsenal. Utd have lost 30+ goals in Ronaldo and i dont see Berbatov filling the void, weve not really added and if we lose the midfield duo will have problems. Arsenal have lost Adebayor but have Arshavin and Eduardo who i think will come good this year and Chelsea as long as they dont lose Terry and Carvalho will be as strong as they were last term.

Let the season commence

Does Raphael Van Der Vaart play as a deep playmaker or a more advanced one???

What about taking a punt on someone like Mark Noble from WHU??

I find it hard to believe that there are not a few people who are central midfielders, can pass half decent (not to XA level maybe but still do a good job) and who wouldnt give us more mobility than Alonso

RE Arsenal - I still dont think they have bought enough players in the right positions to improve massively on last year

Re Chelsea - Be interesting to see how they function under a new manager. Carvalho has as good as sold himself if reports are to be believed and JT's silence still says volumes for me (thats not me saying he is going just that he must be tempted)

With Stewart Downing's £12m move to Villa (Some might say overpriced move I guess)
would it be too much to hope that Rafa has a deal in place to take Ashley Young to Anfield???

(sadly I reckon I know the answer you guys will offer me)

Cant wait for the season to start properly, admittedly its been without Johnson, Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Reina and Gerrard but our preseason form has been shoddy

2 draws and a defeat to the calibre of temas weve been facing just isn’t good enough really is it
