Having several VHS tapes to try and transfer onto DVD before my old video recorder gives up the ghost, I ordered a "Smartmaster Gold" from Multi-Region. That is supposed to enhance muddy images on old tapes to make a half decent DVD recording. They usually despatch the next working day by "registered" post said their blurb. I gave up after a week and started chasing them only to discover that they do not answer any forms of communication at all. A month has now passed since the order, and I am guessing that they have ceased trading, but are probably still earning a steady income! All the hype from credit card companies that you are covered for circumstances like this are not valid if the purchase is less than £100!
So I'm passing these two bits of information on hoping that others do not get caught out!

A good sign would have been that they haven't updated their news page/main page since 2008. Their site looks as dodgy as hell too - which is also a sign to avoid. Sad

Thanks Ben, all things I started to note when the item failed to arrive. A bit late then!
You would have thought that the Bank would have disconnected their ability to accept payment via credit cards. We all learn by our mistakes!

Contact your card issuer and ask them to do a charge back.

I have done this a few time on purchases well below £100

Yeah I wouldn't give up on it yet. Let the bank know that you believe the company has ceased trading etc.

Thanks both for that help. The 30 days is up on Monday which means that the "Distance selling laws" have been breached. I did try with the card company a few days ago, but they turned me away quoting the £100 rule. I'll certainly have another go at them with the extra tips you guys have passed on.

Cheers

Peter

If they try it on again ask them where this is stated

Thanks to all for your help and advice, I challenged the credit card company as suggested and got a full refund!
