I know there's Christmas to take into account, but I'm less than impressed with HMV's online delivery times. They're quoting 2-5 days for orders and on Monday I'll have been waiting 7 days for a fairly expensive set I'd have thought would have been couriered. The item has been beaten to my door by a disc posted free delivery from Play.com and a book sent free delivery via Hermes by Amazon (3 days and 1 day respectively).
I know Royal Mail's at fault, not the company although they should have more sense than to send stuff 2nd Class Packet through RM. And why, considering the Play package was also 2nd Class Packet and from Jersey, did it beat the HMV package which went in the post two days earlier??

that's funny, I've found play.com recently to be v poor, in stock items taking over a week to arrive, amazon have consistently been v good. play seem to sit on your order a few days before sending it nowadays 
Do HMV send order confirm email, and another order dispatch email? I don't see how it can be Royal Mail's fault, if other items a have beaten it.

Yep, they send an order confirmation and an "it's on its way" email. Unless they send the email out and then put stuff in the mail bag at their leisure, I'd presume the IOIW email coincides with the item leaving their custody and joining the mail network.
Once the item is in the mail network, it's RM's responsibility. I'm again presuming that HMV ships Second Class Packet like Play and Amazon. I have a suspicion that HMV's mailing centre is on Guernsey, and mail from there is always slower than from Jersey.

well i hope you get the bits from HMV, as i suspect this will be their last christmas on the high street! along with a few others including Argos... both have posted severe profits warnings!
