Now, for someone who has ben running his old MESH Windows 98 machine into the ground, can anyone tell me why I shouldn't do it?
Will also need to try and persuade BT to send any software/hardware so that i can get myself back onto the net fairly sharpish, so if anyone is familiar with the things I may need then that would also come in handy ![]()
cheers!

Wow, and I thought Jits was the only person still running Win98!
Can't advise on the spec, I don't know how AMD and ATI compare to Intel/nVidia. ![]()

Anyway, all ordered now. I'm just waiting for the disappointment when all my favourite games don't play any more

It will hold your old PC down and take it forcefully, so in that respect it's a massive step up. However, do you game? I ask because the GPU isn't much cop (from what I remember). If all you use it for is general home office and internet, it'll do fine.
With regards to the broadband, how do you connect? If it's via Ethernet it should just work.

Good luck mate, I thought my old Dell XP machine was old enough.
After all this time anything you buy will seem like the Enterprise compared to a steam train.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was.
Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary
My PII 450 is still going strong in the spare room for torrents, case, mobo, processor sound and graphics cards are only original components, but it still works B)
I bought the "new" PC a couple of years ago from Mesh, and it's been good. had a hard drive go wrong within first year but they were good about replacing it

Cheers for the feedback!
As for broadband, I've been plugging into a BT dual slot and running things through an old BT broadband modem....I imagine I'll have to try and hook up to the 'home hub; which was sent a good few years back but which the old machine couldn't cope with.
Anyway, we'll see ![]()
