Guys, ok basically i can turn wireless off from my tablet, by accessing the router settings, but unlike my desktop were you can activate the wireless from the top search bar when its offline, i cant seem to turn it back on again as the tablet is offline!

Ideas?

Diaable what wireless? On the tablet or the router? Activate wireless from the top search bar in what? Sorry but it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense as you have written it.

disable the router, on a pc you can enter the unique code to access the router when the router is offline. You cant seem to be able to do that on a tablet.

I assume by the unique code you are using the routers web based administration page. So by typing 192.168.1.1 or something similar into a web browser , then going into the settings and turning off wireless. you are turning off the wireless transmitter, not taking the router offline completely. You would need to disable all the network interfaces, which they wont let you do or you would have no way to talk to it to turn it back on.

If you turn off the wireless then you cant connect from any wireless device, correct. The only way to connect to it would be through a PC or laptop connected using a cable. There isn't a way to make the tablet connect without having the wireless on.

Well i can turn wireless back on easly enough using either a laptop or netbook, as the log in code comes up in the address bar without any cables its just i cant turn it back on with my tablet.

Thats an interesting one, must admit it goes against all the stuff i know (which i grant you isnt massive ) but its a problem iv'e seen loads when sorting out friends wireless stuff, they do stuff like upgrade the router firmware and wonder when it reboots the laptop doesnt do anything - its because the laptop needs a permanent usually via a wired connection to the router to complete the upgrade. - what your saying is that you can access and turn off the wireless section of the router so it stops broadcasting then just click a button and it turns back on a again? - if thats the case it would appear the wireless isnt being turned off as such just restricting access?, if its off its off so theirs no radio signal and no route of communication back to the router from the laptop to turn it on again.

Not disputing what your saying i'm just running it through my head.

p.s just a thought, if you have more than one wireless enabled device and the wireless is "off" can it still be seen as broadcasting by any of the other devices?
