Guess what OS it's aimed to look like ![]()

I've dabbled with Ubuntu themes etc to recreate MacOS, but never having used a Mac for more than 5 mins, I've no idea how goot they are, but this one looks pretty, and I'd imagine if it's been designed from ground up rather than bolted on could be quite good.
I may dabble with it as my parents have been threatening to get a PC for a long time, so I thought I could give them an old laptop I have. It's a Dell D610, few years old, but I've given it 2gb ram, it runs win 7 ok, I dual boot win 7 and whatver Linux I feel like on it with no issues.
They'd only use it for light internet, printing photos, and burning them to CD/DVD, so it would be fine, but have been wondering whether to keep Win 7 on it, or a Linux. They currently don't have a PC, and have no experience so no allegiance/knowledge of what's what.
Pear OS could be a nice way of giving them Linux and somehting nice and easy to use ![]()
I'd normally be 1st/2nd/3rd line tech support for them, but if they get broadband, and speak to their provider, both parties may get confused, so Win 7 may be easier, but don't think it's safer ![]()

Is this quite lightweight? I have an ageing laptop that runs nicely with Debian, but Xubuntu has always been too slow for it.

it's gnome 3 on ubuntu, so no, not lightweight

try lxde rather than xfce, lxde is lightweight and v usable, unlike say icewm or flux, which are lightweight, and if you want to hack text files usable ![]()

Oh well, shame, it looks pretty.
Debian works very well so I'm loathed to change it, especially as I mainly use it for things like network/website testing.

Website seems to suggest you're on your own when it comes to graphics drivers. The "Download here" button just redirects you to Nvidia and ATI's manual download page. That'll go down well with a newbie. ![]()
Looks nice otherwise. I like the spin on Gnome 3.
