I almost bought an SSD

I was in trigger happy spending mode, but put the 'safety' on at the last minute Happy

I'm getting a little fed up with my desktop PC, which I don't really want to spend money on, since I want to replace it completely, but at the same time thinking "well, it still runs OK, so I'll just wait till part of it fails" Grinning
Anyway, I just saw an OCZ Agility 3 120GB SSD drive on Dabs.com for £130 and got to the point of selecting a delivery address before stopping and thinking about it.
At the moment I have 2 WD 250GB drives in a striped RAID array as my boot drive, but it still feels slow to load everything.

I'm going to do a full re-install this week (putting in the spare 2GB of RAM I have to make 6GB) then install Win7 x64 and see if that makes things any better.
If I still feel like it's a little slow I think I may pull that trigger. My thinking is that I can always use the SSD in the next machine (whatever that may be) or my Macbook Pro once the warranty is up on it...2 years and 7 months to go.

Apologies for the random post...I've had a few beers. Happy

Probably cheaper to buy a few more beers and slow your reaction time down Winking

I ordered one tonight (the Crucial M4 128GB).
I re-built my RAID0 array tonight, and then installed Win7 64bit.
Even on a fresh install it seemed way too slow Sad

I figured that I can stick it in the desktop, then when I can clarify whether upgrading the HD in my MacbookPro voids the warranty or not (there's no clear answer that I can find) I may well put the SSD in to that.

You're not wrong.
I just can't be arsed with that at the moment...although I just saw that LoveFilm have shipped "BodyCount" to me to play on there.

I loved "Black" on the PS2, one of the best single-player FPS games there ever was (in my humble opinion) and this is by the same creator I believe.
Haven't read any reviews of it, so it'll probably be crap!
