i am on 02 simplicity, before that normal pay as you go for years. i have had the same phone for years too. i bought an lg phone today, nothing fancy, i just wanted a change.
i have managed to get the phone number/contacts from my old phone onto the sim. when i put the sim in the new phone all the contacts are there. but will i still be on simplicity? when i first turned the new phone on a few hours ago i got a few texts through, one is a browser/mms/proxy/apn which has an option to install at the bottom, do i need to install this to get things going?
i have backed up my music and photos from my old phone, onto my computer (i am not sure how to save texts). but before i start using the new phone properly i want to make sure i am on simplicity. i thought it would be a case of just putting a new sim in, i should have realised it wouldn't be straight forward getting a new phone.
cheers.

Your tariff should remain unchanged if you use the same SIM, as far as O2 are concerned you're just using a new handset and the texts are automatic to set the new phone up to the new network's data and MMS settings.
You need to agree to a change on your SIM/Number for the tariff to change, usually by opting in with a key press during an automated call thingy... you know the kind of thing I mean.

thanks for the help. the phone is working ok, still on the same tariff. so don't i need to install the text message i got, browser/mms/proxy/apn, anymore? cheers
If you install that message then you can use things like MMS picture messaging.
If you don't use the message then I'm pretty sure things like picture messaging, internet access etc etc won't function as the message should just be the settings being sent to the phone.
If you don't physically agree to a tariff change, either by ringing the number they have and choosing the option for the tariff you want or by going online to their website and keying in your details etc then your tariff should remain unchanged even if the message settings are installed.
You could always ring the customer care line (IIRC 150) and they should be able to confirm everything ![]()

many thanks for the reply, very helpful.
to be honest i don't use the internet on my mobile, i think i used it a couple of times in all the years i used my older phone, and that was probably because it was free for a couple of days. picture messaging isn't included on the tariff i am on, simplicity, as far as i know so i won't be using that. if the phone works ok i don't think i will bother installing those settings, i will keep them just incase i need to use them at some point.
i think when i am next near an 02 shop i might just pop in to double check things are ok. i sent a text to the 02 number last night, it tells how many minutes are left in each months allowance, i got a reply back with a number that sounded about right.
thanks again, cheers
