Just wondering if anyone else has had this.
My Netbook (Samsung N130) has been running at snails pace and shutting everything down the Task Manager still showed anything between 50% to 90% CPU useage.
Googling brings up the fact that MsMpEng.exe (part of Security Essentials) is using it all scanning itself and needs to be excluded within it's own exclusions?
Not a problem on my groaning old XP home machine though?

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was.
Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary

I've not had a problem, but a guy at work noticed a similar thing after he did a fresh xp install on a laptop the other day.
Maybe there's an update which breaks it, or another which fixes it?
I found the latest MalwareBytes update slowed all 3 of my computers right down.
It came with a free 30 day trial of the full version, ended up having to un-install MB and remove all entries from services.msc to get them running again.
Have done this on a few friends computers too over the last couple of weeks, as soon as MB is gone the computer is back up to speed.
Needless to say I won't be paying for the upgrade.
Another resource hogger is indexing service in windows. to turn off click on my computer, right click on your hard drive(s), choose properties and untick allow indexing of this drive.
All the best
Gerald.
