iPhone 3GS WiFi signal issues
posted by Ailegs on Thursday, 6th January 2011, 19:05

Elite

Had no troubles with my iPhone until the around Christmas. Started off with keep asking me to rejoin the home wifi network and gradually needing to be physicaly closer to the router to gain a connection.

We had not installed anything that would obviously interfere, checked the available networks and there were a few more available but our netbook (Also on wifi) was unaffected.

Things I have done so far with the phone out of protective case:
[*] Changed router from 802.11b/g to 802.11b - No change so reverted.
[*] Changed the routers channel from auto to a few various channels without change to either the iPhone or Netbook.
[*] Soft reset of 3GS
[*] Powercycled modem (Obviously this was first Winking)
[*] Unjailbroken the iPhone and updated to latest Apple firmware
[*] Tested round two friends houses and had same issue. Meaning the phone is clearly the problem

3G continues to work great and also the phone network is fine when in good signal areas. (Not our flat!) The only solution that I can see being the next option is going to cost me money and that is to fit a new internal antenna such as this or these. The only problem with going for a new internal antenna is that these tend to be the antenna sheets for 3G and phone aswell which is currently unaffected! Confused

Interested in any suggestions with regards to fixing the phone and not purchasing another phone (Or Touch). Thanks

Is that the time? Damn you PSWii60!!!!
