quickie, downloading a CD to and using itunes on a netbook??

Hi, Ok can itunes be used on a netbook, and because there is no optical drive, how would I transfer CD's onto itunes or a folder on the netbook?

buy an external usb cd drive, usb dvdrw drives are less than £50
