Help with 3 mobile problem

Hi,

My wife's '3' mobile was stolen, and we don't have a spare 3 mobile to hand. She only has 8 weeks left on her contract so I hoped just to use an unlocked phone. 3 have sent a replacement sim (or is it usim), so I tried that in an unlocked samsung u600, but it refused to work.

Are 3's sim cards locked to only work with 3 mobiles? Or is there something else?

Any help much appreciated!

Elite Donator

no, they're not locked to 3 "only" handsets.

you need a phone which has 3G capability.

me, the wife and daughter are all on 3 with various phones
but we also keep a spare vodaphone sony V600i (unlocked obviously)
as a back-up should one of our phones go tits up.

Cheers.

Managed to find an old 3g LG phone, bit tatty, but seems to work with the sim. Hopefully will last until contract renewal time.
