what sort of problem are you getting? Remember discs aren't actually as big as they say they are, i.e. you can't actually get a 8.5gb file on a disc.

svp usually recommend that you make sure your firmware is up to date. Ppl quite often have problems with double layer discs.

I have not used Nero for a wee while, D/L burning, but I think there is a menu / option in the preferences to choose either a DVD 9 or DVD 5, single or dual layer (There is in Nero Burning ROM anywhoo).
Have a wee look and you may find that to be the solution, selecting DVD 9, providing that is the problem Happy

When you go through the burning wizard you change the type of disk in a drop down I think.

nero burning rom should automaticaly recognise the dual layer disc & change the paramaters on it's own, but if you go via nero smartstart/encoder you need to set it manually, at least thatsd how i gotta do it on nero 7, dunno about other versions.

Hi,
Sorry about the delay in responding.
I am trying to fit 7.7GB on to the disks which they say will take 8GB.
My firmware is upto date and today I tried another make of Disk,Verbatim.
The disks work well in my LG dvd recorder but not on my computer.
Nero reads the disk to be copied ok but when the new disk is put in it after a few moments it says Burn Aborted and rejects the disk without writing to it.

As a thought, the disks I am using are DVD+R DL,I notice that there are also DVD-R DL disks available could it be the wrong type?

Regards

Try clicking on NeroToolkit - Nero Infotool and see what discs are supported with your drive.

Hi,
Just checked as you suggested.
Both drives will work with DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL.
Thanks for the info.

Are DVD9 films worth burning?

Have acquired Transformers, am currently acquiring T2 and am think about Wall E

Just wondering is there a significant difference between these and standard versions

Hi,

Sorry kebabhead I cannot help with your query.

However I have solved the problem of burning my DVD-DL.

I used DVD Shrink with the settings to give no compression plus a speed appropriate to the disk and I have now burnt 2 discs of different types with no problems.

Both disks play in a number of dvd players.

Many thanks for all suggestions.

I must now try and learn to spell burning.
